1. 5-Card Stud- the earliest variant of the stud poker game. It started during the American Civil War. It is still considered to be the most popular variant in Finland.
2. 7-Card Stud- A minimum of two players and a maximum of eight players are allowed to play the game. If eight players played this variant, a special rule may include for the last cards dealt if everyone continue with the game without folding their cards. (two done, four up, one down) It is the most popular variant of Stud Poker played today.
3. 6-Card Stud- It is played by 1-4-1 where betting happens only after the two cards are dealt that is almost similar to the 7-Card Stud poker.
4. 8-Stud- also known as the Eight or Better High-Low Stud. It is also played as the seven card stud however the pot is divided into player with the highest hand and to the player with the lowest hand.
5. Mississippi Stud- this variant made the seven-card stud game better at no limit and pot limit category. It has a limited betting structure like the Texas Hold’em.
6. Mexican Stud- also known as the Mexico poker or the Stud loco. It is game of roll your own five-card stud with a tripped deck and wild cards.
7. Caribbean Stud- adapted the rules of the five-card stud poker and popular as a casino game. It was invented by David Sklansky and was first introduced in Aruba way back 1980′s.
8. Scandinavian stud-it is similar to the five-card stud that two new rules like the hands rankings such as four-card straight can beats the player holding one pair and a four-card flush beats the player with four-card straight and two pairs.
9. Kentrel- also known as the “48″, a seven-card stud poker variation that starts with each player being dealt with four cards downwards.
10. Number Nine- this game makes 9s wild cards. Every time a player receive two cards that add up that makes 9 is considered to be wild cards. It is another variant of the 7-card stud poker.
